Geography (A/T/M)
Geography students complete a series of depth studies to investigate the biophysical and human phenomena across our region so that we gain a better understanding of the interconnections between people, place, and the environment. We use a range of inquiry methods that value imagination and creativity, and incorporate scientific skills to evaluate evidence about the human impact on our environment. We use data from a range of sources to achieve this, such as maps, statistics, experiments, case studies, and field work.
Field work is an important component of our studies, allowing us to relate our conceptual knowledge with the physical environment. Our fieldwork includes exploring areas affected by natural hazards, changes in population and land use, areas affected by climate change, and urban planning in and around the Canberra region. These skills are central to our ability to understand our world and make informed predictions about future outcomes.
